PREPARATORY
PRAYER
Most Merciful
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I, a miserable sinner, kneel before the image of
Your most Sacred Body, which You left upon the Holy Shroud. Dear Jesus, in
contemplation of Your many sufferings, I feel deep sorrow and contrition, and I
desire to make reparation for my sins. Grant that I may be made ever more aware
of Your Great Love, as I walk the Way Of Sorrow together with Your most Holy
Mother. May that torrent of sorrow, which she bore in union with You, O Jesus,
overflow into my poor heart, and unite me with her in a very special love for
You.
May Your most Adorable Face so
brutally beaten and bloodied, be the source of love and consolation which will
draw me ever closer to You.
O my Guardian Angel, help me to
assist the tottering Savior on the Way To Calvary, and to remain at the foot of
the Cross to offer my love and compassion.
First Station
Jesus Is Condemned To Death
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
ALL: Mercy, My Savior, mercy! It was my sins not Pilate that passed
the sentence of death upon You. Grant me the grace to be ever aware of the
consequence of sin.

V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.

R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O Blessed Savior, my sins in all their vileness have made Your
Cross almost impossible to bear. Yet, Your Holy Love spurs You onward.

R. Pity and pardon.
Third Station
Jesus Falls The First Time
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O my Savior, how pitiful this first fall! Your most Holy Face
covered with sweat, spittle and blood is further marred by dust and dirt from
this torturous fall. O my God, forgive me, grant me the grace to never again
fall into sin.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Fourth Station
Jesus Meets His Afflicted Mother
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O loving Mother of our Savior, how the words of Simeon must
have come to mind: "and Your own heart a sword shall pierce". How that very Head
you caressed is now crowned with thorns, bloodied, bruised, pouring out a
feverish sweat and defiled by spittle from vile mouths. O Most Sorrowful Mother,
pray that I may adore your Beloved Son evermore, and that I may console you, O
Mary.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Fifth Station
The Cross Is Laid On Simon Of Cyrene
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O my Jesus, when the Cross was laid on Simon, it was to remind
me of the necessity of participating in Your most Sorrowful Passion. O Savior of
my soul, grant me the grace to carry my daily crosses with patience and with
love, a constant reminder of the Cross You bore for me.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Sixth Station
Veronica Wipes The Face Of Jesus
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O Most Gentle Jesus, how graciously You accepted the loving act
Veronica, how grateful You were when she wiped blood and sweat from Your most
Holy Face. May I have the very image, which You imprinted on her veil, impressed
upon my soul a symbol of Your Love for me.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Seventh Station
Jesus Falls The Second Time
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.

sins I repeat time and again, have brought Your Sacred Body to fall to the
ground.
Grant me the grace to shun all things that are displeasing to You.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Eighth Station
Jesus Speaks To The Women Of Jerusalem
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by You Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: How those words resound, "Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for
me. Weep for yourselves and for your children". Dear Jesus, I shall weep for my
sins; however, permit me also to shed tears of gratitude for Your Great Love.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Ninth Station
Jesus Falls The Third Time
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O my Suffering Savior, my obstinacy in sin brings You crashing
down to the ground under the overwhelming weight of my sins. When, O my Blessed
Savior, will I walk the narrow path that leads to salvation? When will I gently
soothe Your wounds instead instead of adding to Your Agony? O Most Holy Mother,
pray that I may persevere in the righteous way.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Tenth Station
Jesus Is Stripped Of His Garments
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O Immaculate Lamb of God, how shamefully I have caused You to
be treated! There are no words now, just a painful reflection of my past. Let my
eyes see only that which is edifying and grant that I may shun all that is
immoral, so to live a life according to Your commandments.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Eleventh Station
Jesus Is Nailed To The Cross
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O my Blessed Redeemer, I cannot withhold the tears from my
eyes. The excruciating agony of the nails being driven into Your wrists, and
through Your feet, makes my heart grow faint. Hold me fast to Your Cross,
O my Savior, that I may never stray away from You.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Twelfth Station
Jesus Dies On The Cross
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: O my Jesus, stretched out upon the infamous Cross, though dead,
You speak a language of Love unknown to the human heart. Your death is the life
of the soul, restored because of Your Great Love, a love so sadly ignored and
unknown. O how much You endured so that I might become Your friend, providing I
do the things You command me. O Blessed Redeemer, I will be Your friend. Forgive
my past indifference and stubbornness, Grant that I, unlike the many who have
passed You by without noticing You, may stop and gaze, then kneel and adore You,
for You are worthy of all love and adoration.
An Act Of Perfect Contrition
ALL: O my God, I am heartily sorry and beg pardon
for all my sins, not because these sins bring suffering and hell to me; but
because they have crucified my loving Savior, Jesus Christ, and offended Your
Infinite Goodness. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my
sins, to do penance and to amend my life... Amen.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Thirteenth Station
Jesus Is Taken Down From The Cross
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: My crucified Savior is now taken down from the Cross. The
Sabbath is near and there is no time for the washing and the annointing of His
Body. How lovingly He was embraced by His afflicted Mother! How gently He was
carried to the tomb! May I, O Jesus, also embrace You as did Your Holy Mother
Mary. Permit me to annoint You with my love and may my tears of repentance wash
Your Sacred Body.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
Fourteenth Station
Jesus Is Laid In The Sepulchre
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You,
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
ALL: How carefully and lovingly Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus
placed spices around Your Sacred Remains! How their hearts must have rent when
they gazed at the blood-stain on Your right side! O Lord, that
Precious Blood, which flowed from Your Sacred Heart, left its stain on Your
Holy Shroud, as a witness to Your love. And You, O Lord, left us Your Image
in Death on the Shroud You were enveloped in to remind us of Your Sorrowful
Passion. O that Holy Face, sealed in the silence of death speaks to the heart
and touches the soul, that all
may read therein the greatest Love the world has ever known.
V. Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory Be...
V. Merciful Face Of Jesus,
R. Pity and pardon.
LET US PRAY
O my Loving
Jesus, in Your Great Love for me, You offered up Your most Sacred Body that I
may be redeemed. Grant that I may be made worthy of Your Love, so that in union
with Your Most Holy Mother, I may behold Your Most Adorable Face in the Splendor
of Light Eternal...Amen.

The Lord bless us and keep us!
The Lord let His Face shine upon
us, and be gracious to us!
